Here’s a brief explanation of the different types of appointments available
at your local Vision Express store.

Adult eye test

Our Advanced Eye Test, tests more than just your vision, it looks at your eye health too. We include eye health screening (OCT 3D eye scan), a UV protection assessment, dry eye assessment. And because your eyes are as unique as your fingerprint, we give personalised solutions for your eye health and your eyesight.

If you’re eligible for an NHS funded eye test you can pay £6 to upgrade to our Advanced Eye Test. All customers have a standard eye health screening before seeing the optician.

Don't forget to tell your optician about your overall health and any medication that you may be taking. Certain prescription drugs can affect your vision.

Advanced Eye test £30 or a Free NHS funded eye test is available if you qualify for an NHS optical voucher. You can upgrade from £6*.

Contact lenses initial assessment

As long as you have a valid prescription that’s within the expiry date, you won’t need another eye test to get contact lenses. If, however, you have never worn contacts before, you will need an initial assessment.

The assessment will involve spending time with one of our expert opticians to ensure you have the correct contact lenses for your eyes and your lifestyle. We’ll also show you how to insert and remove your lenses, and how best to look after them.

To make sure the lenses we choose are the right ones for you, we’ll arrange a free trial, so you can get used to them and see how they feel. For the free trial we’ll give you either five pairs of daily disposable lenses or a pair of reusable contact lenses.
